Internet Marketing requires patience…

I am a total instant gratification kind of guy.? Things can’t happen quick enough for me.? I know what I want and I want it NOW.? I get frustrated having to wait for a video to load as much as having to wait for an autoresponder email to verify my email address when testing my own lead capture landing pages.? 😉 Does this sound familiar?? I created the term “Internet Gratification Disorder” and I think many online entrepreneurs also suffer from this online production killing disorder.

Fortunately, I have found 2 ways to manage my internet marketing disorder. Let me share with you how you can do the same.

Your internet marketing game plan should have an assortment of marketing tools that can accomplish your short term and long term goals.

1) Establish obtainable long term benchmarks that support your long term internet marketing strategies. Here are one real example I use:

  • Create a blog that provides really good and unique content that will average 500 unique visitors a month.? (Notice, I didn’t say create a blog that averages 500 visitors a day.)? The satisfaction of achieving goals serves as a real motivational factor so use that to your advantage by benchmarking an obtainable goal instead of setting yourself up for failure. By the way, I am happy to be averaging much greater than my target.? See, I feel good just typing this right now.
  • Commit to spending money online instead of trying to do everything yourself.? It is really liberating paying someone else to do a project for me.? For example, I have paid people to conduct “back linking” for me. I also recently decided to pay someone to do a custom logo for me instead of my constantly trying to create my own. For me, it was not so much spending the money as it was my unwillingness to delegate that project to someone else. But, since I made the decision to pay someone to create a logo for my blog, I have been liberated from that stress and can now concentrate my efforts on creating “really good content”.

2) Establish short term benchmarks that quench your need for instant gratification. This really helps me with IGD.

  • Scan for ways to work smarter. Scanning for solutions to make your long term goals more obtainable may be as simple as identifying the weakest component of your online marketing strategy and searching for an online solution.? For example, I recently found tribepro which auto-syndicates my blog content to hundreds of other social media distribution channels.? This has been a great find that makes my long term goals much easier . I can now bring traffic to my blog at will compliments of my tribe.? (For more information about tribe pro).
  • Have weekly goal(s) and write them down.? Writing down your goals really does help you achieve them.? With a quick glance to my left I can see my dry erase board and the 2 outstanding projects that are still on my list to achieve this week.? Start writing down your online goals.

These are just two quick solutions that have worked for me.

The bottom line is that internet marketing is a combination of a long distance marathon and a 50 yard sprint.

So, do both!
